Web Design with Photoshop (CS4)

Web Design with Photoshop (CS4) by Philip Fuchslocher and René Schulze Synopsis Web design: there are times when a wild design is required, other times when a more sober approach is needed. Websites can be opulent, futuristic or minimalist, but most - if not all - will use visual imagery of some kind. It does not matter which direction you take, the first step in developing a web design is knowing how to use Photoshop. This book takes you from the first idea about the concept and design of a website to implementation using HTML and CSS. Using numerous workshops you are given both the necessary practical knowledge and extensive theoretical background to facilitate independent work on your web projects. From the first pixel to the finished design, you will develop a complete and practical web design workflow in Photoshop, and at the same time you are shown the possibilities and restrictions by various browsers, monitors and operating systems. In addition you will find a variety of selected working examples, specific action plans and inspirations for creating web relevant elements such as buttons, navigation, backgrounds and exciting visual effects.

Review 1 Web Design with Photoshop missed my expectations by far. I wanted a Photoshop book on web design specifically so I could familiarize myself fully with this extremely valuable web tool and was hoping it would show me the "finesse" of web design. Far from it! Instead, the book provides information on needs assessments (objective and target audience, content etc.), HTML standards, paragraph formatting, server environment, FTP, and much more that I can find in any other book for budding web designers. Only a few useful examples with Photoshop are available. I have been waiting long for the publication of this book and I expected much more from the title. There is certainly much more useful books that introduce you more fully to the professional image editing program Photoshop CS. (Posted by Disappointed from Worthing)

Review 2 I agree that there are other books out there that deal more specifically with Photoshop features, but this is a useful book none the less. A Photoshop work flow is an essential concept if a web design requires a lot of photographic work (acquisition, treatment, compression, etc). (Posted by Web Design Shrewsbury)

Review 3 This book is ideal for beginners. How to proceed with the design of a website is completely described in detail. I can only recommend this book. (Posted by Helga)

Review 4 This book is versatile. It can be used as a textbook in which you are working through the content chapter by chapter or as a reference book if you have specific questions. I can only recommend this book. I think you will have much fun here. (Posted by fassbinder)

Review 5 Too many so-called technical books masquerade as fun these days. What ever happened to rigor? (Posted by Glottal Stop)
