Waste Management - Checklist

Waste Management - Checklist by Jean-Michel Balet Synopsis Jean-Michel Balet’s book on waste management emerged out of a conference in 2007. The “Grenelle Environment”, held in France, brought together government ministers, local authorities, trade unions, business and the voluntary sector with the aim of deciding on practical measures to tackle environmental issues. Waste Management was a major item on the agenda. Balet’s Checklist provides a summary of the technical and regulatory treatment of waste. It covers the different waste types, characteristics, quantities produced, the main regulatory texts, and the modes of collection and management. It then goes on to deal with the constraints, advantages and disadvantages of the treatment processes and their perspectives, the main industry players and key economic and financial data. This second edition (2008) updates information on the recycling industry and processing and updates the main regulations. It is an indispensable tool for environmental managers (industry, local authorities), eco-industries and entrepreneurs, and students in the field.

Review 1 I like reading about waste management practices in the rest of Europe to find out how other countries deal with recycling and whether they’re doing things better. This is a useful book as it draws together all the relevant info in France, including regulatory aspects. Good reading for anyone involved in waste management and recycling. (Posted by Skip Hire)
