Review 1 If you know nothing about jQuery but have some knowledge of HTML and CSS and some experience of web development, this is a great book for learning the basics and putting it into practice. (Posted by Web Design in Shrewsbury)
Review 2 After going on a course on jQuery and JavaScript, , I found the possibilities offered by the framework just great. Small tooltips, dynamic navigation and galleries - these can be tedious without JQuery, smart code and useful features integrated into websites that generally work across browsers. But as I found the official jQuery site quite confusing, I wanted a book to boost my motivation. So it was great when I came across this book by Bongers and Villendorf. Why? Because the authors do all it takes to get you working well with jQuery. They convey the basics to the smallest detail, so that even people like me who have not so much experience with JavaScript can understand what happens in the code. The book scores with lots of practical examples that cover well most of what jQuery can offer, including Ajax applications, content, galleries, forms, tables, navigation and so on. Last but not least, the DVD contains all the source code to the book, properly structured and carefully linked with CSS and images, so that applications can easily be tested. Review 3 Authors Bongers and Vollendorf have offered courses for many years in web development within the jQuery framework. They have a great deal of practical experience and this is shown clearly in this book. The authors know their business and give the reader the benefit of their skillful knowledge of the jQuery framework and its application in practice. The book is aimed primarily at advanced web developers, but can also be understood by newcomers to jQuery who have some experience in web development. Some basic knowledge of HTML and CSS should help the reader, though this is not absolutely necessary. At 582 pages, the book contains everything you need to develop a website using the jQuery framework. (Posted by Schwartzkopf)
