Environmental Protection in the Automotive Industry - Engine, Fuel, Recycling by Dusan Gruden Synopsis Environmental protection is now a key dimension of modern automobile production. Laws and standards are in operation whilst the use of cars is of utmost importance. Without compliance with the law, an appropriate strategy for environmental management and a responsible use of resources would not be possible. This book focuses on the concepts of industrial recycling of the automobile and the influence of the fuel on the CO2 and greenhouse effect, with alternative fuels also examined.
Review 1 At 400 pages this book is a comprehensive survey of the state of the art on the subject of the motor car in its environmental aspects. I applaud the author greatly. (Posted by Niebelung)
Review 2 Problem I find is that a solution to one problem creates another kind of problem. Take electric cars, for instance - running so quietly that people are now worried that the hard of hearing are going to get run over. Also, road surfaces in the UK are cracking up as the materials now used for surfacing are not as durable as they used to be; the reason for the new materials is that they reduce noise levels significantly for people living close to busy roads. In short, solutions to environmental problems - particularly those associated with energy and use of the motor car - is like walking a tightrope, carrying out a fine balancing act between different and conflicting interest groups. Review 3 The car is an essential item if you want to get anywhere. All this road surfacing stuff is health and safety gone mad. And who's going to drive electric cars? Mobility scooters with a different name. (Posted by JSON Button)
Review 4 Cars are noisy - fact. Let's keep them noisy. Then the hard of hearing won't get run over, unless they're totally deaf. (Posted by Sterling No-Moss)
