Construction Site Waste Management - A Methodological Guide by Pascale Maes Synopsis The construction industry produces thousands of tons of waste each year and construction professionals must engage in waste management in the initial stage of preparatory work, knowing that only residual waste - that is, waste that is not likely be addressed by the current technical and economic conditions - can be land filled. The goals of this work are firstly to organize construction sites so that they modify current practice, and secondly to empower different trades, allowing each player in the construction sector to: - Have insights into the different types of waste and the regulations pertaining to them; - Seek recovery channels according to the different categories of waste; - Actively participate in departmental plans for waste management in the construction of buildings and public works; - Integrate waste management into the organization of construction and contract documents; - Realize in practical terms the sorting of waste on site; - Ensure the construction site is "green". Construction firms will be able to enhance their image through sound waste management of the environment and reap the benefits accruing from the rational organization of management. The environment will also benefit.
Review 1 I have personal experience of seeing building and construction wastage which could have been avoided had more thought been applied to recycling, recovery and restoration. We need more books like this. Though short, this one is a good guide to methodology and waste management techniques. (Posted by Skip Hire)
Review 2 Builders don't give a flyin f*** about leaving their crap all over the place. Direct action is the only way to stop this madness. (Posted by rusticwarrior)
