When buying an office chair it can be quite confusing as nowadays there are so many different types of office chairs on the market ranging from the basic office swivel chairs to high backed leather executive office chairs. Did you know there are three different heights for just the back of an office chair, you can buy a chair with a low back, high back and now even a mid back.
There are so many different options when deciding on which office chair to purchase, you can have a chair with no arms, fixed arms or adjustable arms, you can also have an ergonomic chair that has been built to ensure less stress is put on your body whilst sitting at your work station.
If you are buying office chairs for other people to use you must consider each person and their individual needs, you also need to ensure the chairs you buy can be used with the desks that you buy why you might ask, this is because certain office chairs can only be raised to a particular height however if you buy high office desks and don’t buy office chairs that can be adjusted to a higher height then it will cause problems for the person sitting in the chair.
For instance a person using a keyboard on their desk will need their chair at a certain height as their arms are supposed to be at a 45 degree angle at all times to ensure repetitive strain is not put onto their wrists and hands. If your employee has a repetitive strain injury not only will they be in a lot of pain but depending on how severe the injury is it may be necessary for them to have time off sick, if not they may have to have reduce hours or duties to ensure the extra strain in relieved. Spending a little more money on the correct office chairs could save you money in the long run as you won’t have to either pay sick pay or agency fees to replace the worker whilst they are off sick.
To further ensure that you are not aiding to your employees sick time off work you should ensure the office chairs you buy have the correct lumber support as a lot of time will be spent in the chair on a daily basis and having an incorrect chair could cause major back problems to the individual in the future again this could cost you money in the long run.
